PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crosslinkable liquid crystalline(LC) organosiloxane composed of specific unit, excellent in ultraviolet stability, and useful in e.g. optical devices. SOLUTION: This LC organosiloxane is composed of unit of formula I [R is a 1-4C alkyl; Mes is at least one of groups of respective formula II and formula III (A is 1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene, or the like; Q is COO, OCO, a chemical bond or the like; X is cholesteryl, dihydrocholesteryl, doristeryl, or the like; B is a chemical bond, OCH2, CH2-CH2COO or the like; E is a chemical bond, O, COO, CH2O or the like; F is a chain composed of 0-11 CH2 groups which are not adjacent to each other and may be substituted by oxygen atom(s) ; VN is COO, CH=CH2, oxiranyl group or the like; u is 2-8; m and p are each 3-7; n and q are each 0 or 1; t and r are each 1-3); b is 0-2; c is 0-4; b+c is <=4]. It is preferable that pigments, optical devices, etc., are produced using the above LC organosiloxane. |
