PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for managing data by which entry data can be managed at high speed with simple procedure and configuration. SOLUTION: Coincidence retrieval is performed by masking (n-mi) bits from the side of least significant bit while registering plural entry data for the length of (n) bits in an associated memory, the value of mi bits from the side of most significant bit coincident with entry data is detected, coincidence retrieval is performed by shifting bits to be masked to the low-order side at the interval of mi+1 bits, the value of (n) bits coincident with the entry data is detected by successively detecting the value of correspondent mi+1 bits repeatedly until the bits to be masked are eliminated, an entry address registering the entry data coincident with this detected value of (n) bits is provided, and new entry data are registered in this entry address. |
