PURPOSE: A database synchronization system and method is provided to synchronize a database between an elementary management system(EMS) and a plurality of network elements(NE) to perform effectively a real time monitoring. CONSTITUTION: A database synchronization system comprises an EMS(200), a plurality of NEs(240,250,260), and a communication link(230). The NE(240) includes a database(241), a common memory(CM)(242) rearranging a database information and an alarm status information on a memory, a synchronization related memory(RM)(243) for maintaining an equality with the EMS(200). The EMS(200) includes a database(201), a plurality of memories(203,204,205) storing RM information on NEs(240,250,260), and a common memory(202) similar to a the CM(242) of the NE(240). If the EMS(200) selects a synchronization information of an i-th NE, an i-th RM is copied at the CM(202) and then the current status of the i-th NE is reflected. Each NE compares the CM with the RM by the block unit, then the changed block's number is recorded in a header of a response signal and transmitted to the EMS(200). The EMS stores the data, transmitted from each NE, at the correspondent RM according to the block number, and converts the stored data into the database.
