PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back light which can control the chromaticity of a liquid crystal display panel without decreasing the luminance and which can suppress production of bright lines. SOLUTION: The back light device consists of a light transmission plate 1, reflection sheet 2 and diffusion sheet 6 on both sides of the plate 1, and cathode ray tube light source on the side face. In this device, a chromaticity correcting film 3 is applied in the edge area of the reflection sheet 2 near the cathode ray tube so that the light partly reflected by the upper face of the light transmission plate 1 is reflected by the reflection sheet 2 to return to the light conducting plate 1 and to repeat reflection on the light transmission plate 1 and on the reflection sheet 2. Thus, the corrected light is diffused uniformly in the light transmission plate 1 to control the chromaticity. |
