PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new protein useful as an interleukin-18(IL-18) suppressor, an anti-sensitive disease agent, etc., and used for rejection in organ transplantation, treatment for autoimmune disease, etc., comprising an IL-18 binding protein having a specific amino acid sequence. SOLUTION: This new interleukin-18(IL-18) contains whole or a part of an amino acid sequence of formula I or formula II and has a property suppressing a physiological action of IL-18 activating an immune system and is useful as an IL-18 suppressor and an anti-sensitive disease agent, etc., and is used for relaxation of rejection according to organ transplantation or for treatment, prophylaris, etc., of various diseases caused from excessive immune reaction containing autoimmune disease, inflammatory disease and allergic disease. The protein is obtained by concentrating human urine through a membrane, dialyzing through a 20 mM phosphoric acid buffer solution (pH 7.0), passing through a column filled with a gel for affinity chromatography, eluting an adsorbed substance and purifying the eluted fraction by gel filtration and reversed phase chromatography, etc.
