PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut supply of power, when no modular cable is inserted and accordingly to reduce the power consumption by providing a modular connection confirming part which confirms the state of the modular cable and turns on and off a switch part according to the state of the modular cable. SOLUTION: If a modular cable 21 is not inserted into a modular connector 13, this state is confirmed by a modular connection confirming part 14. A switch part 15 is turned off by the control signal sent from the part 14, and the supply of power to a modem chip 12 is stopped. Thus, the part 14 confirms whether the cable 21 is inserted into the connector 13 and the part 15 is turned off, if the cable 21 is recognized not to be inserted into the connector 13. As a result, the power supplied from a personal computer main body 31 is cut off to attain the reduction of power consumption. |
