The present invention relates to methods and intermediates for preparing compounds of the formula 1 and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts and solvates thereof, as well as structurally related compounds, wherein R1 and R2 are each independently selected from C1-C10 alkyl and C1-C10 alkoxy wherein said alkyl and alkoxy are optionally substituted by up to 2 substitutents independently selected from hydroxy and C1-C6 alkoxy; R15 is H, C1-C10 alkyl, or - (CH2) q (C6-C10 aryl), wherein q is an integer from 0 to 4. The foregoing compounds are useful in the treatment of hyperproliferative disorders, such as cancers, in mammals.
