PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an unit house having variable living space capable of improving the convenience in use responding to the change in physical functions for the aged or the person to be cared and protected. SOLUTION: This is an unit building with a variable living space constituting an unit building 25 combined with a plurality of building units 24. Thus, a handrail member 32 with a lighting device as a facility for the persons to be cared and protected such as the aged is installed on a side wall portion 31 of the building unit 24 in advance to make it usable by the variable construction method including additional work after the initial construction.
