<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a microorganism entrapping carrier capable of efficiently decomposing organic substances, etc., in wastewater over a long period and provide a method for producing the carrier. SOLUTION: This microorganism entrapping carrier 12 comprises a carrier 3 for adhesion of microorganisms having immobilized carrier 1, a microorganism layer 4 comprising a microorganism group immobilized on the surface of the carrier 3 for adhesion of microorganisms and a covering layer 5 composed of a material covering and immobilizing the microorganism layer 4 and capable of permeating at least water and oxygen. When the microorganism entrapping carrier 12 in this invention is charged into a wastewater, etc., at least water and enzyme are permeated through the covering layer 5 and fed to the microorganism to enable survival of the microorganism. Further, release and loss of the microorganism are sufficiently prevented by the covering layer 5. Consequently, the microorganism can be retained in stable concentration in alive state over a long period in the microorganism-entrapping carrier 12. Since the microorganism is immobilized on the surface of the carrier 3 for adhesion of microorganism, the carrier enables the microorganism to effectively act on organic substances in the wastewater.</p> |
