PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an acrylic bulk molding compound(BMC) at a high production rate by continuously kneading the BMC on condition that energy consumption required for kneading constituent components be equivalent to a specific value per unit volume of the BMC. SOLUTION: A liquid component passing through a liquid feed pump 3 and a liquid feed pipe 4 out of the constituent components of an acrylic bulk molding compound(BMC) is charged into a tank 1, and a powder component passing through piping 7 out of the constituent components is charged into a container 5. Next the liquid component and the powder component are supplied to a continuous kneader 9 by controlling their charges into a hopper 8 while the masses of both liquid component and powder component are measured so that the ratio (mass ratio) between the supply of a constant feeder 6 and the supply of the liquid feed pump 3 is set to be constant. Both components are thickened by kneading the components in such a way that their energy consumption is equivalent to 1 MJ/m3 or more per unit volume of the BMC. Consequently, the acrylic BMC (a rice cakelike material) which is not sticky and easy to handle, is extruded from the tip of the continuous kneading machine 9. Thus it is possible to manufacture the acrylic BMC at a high production rate. |
