The second substrate includes a second alignment film opposed to the first alignment film. a first substrate including a first sub-pixel, a second sub-pixel, a first line and a second line extending between the first sub-pixel and the second sub-pixel with a gap therebetween, and a first alignment film as an outermost layer; a second substrate including a second alignment film opposed to the first alignment film; and a liquid crystal layer held between the first alignment film and the second alignment film, wherein the first substrate includes a groove in which the first alignment film has a recessed surface between the first line and the second line, and the groove is filled with the liquid crystal layer. |
