PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laminate which is free of foreign matter, etc., at a surface protective film for protecting the surface not provided with a tacky adhesive layer for a polarizing plate, phase difference plate or visual field angle magnifying film, has excellent polarization characteristics and facilitates visual foreign matter inspection and the surface protective film therefor. SOLUTION: The laminate is so positioned that the direction of the orientation crystal main axis of a biaxially oriented polyester film of the surface protective film and the direction of the orientation axis of the polarizing plate, the phase difference plate or the visual field angle magnifying film are substantially aligned or attain 90 deg.. The biaxially oriented polyester film is >=1200 nm in the retardation value R expressed by equation R=Δn.d. In the equation, Δn denotes the double refractive index of the film and (d) denotes the thickness (nm) of the film. |
