ATM COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract an asynchronous transfer mode ATM cell sent for each prescribed period without increasing the delay when the ATM cells are extracted at an equal interval through the absorption of the fluctuation of a transmission time at a receiver side, and to absorb a delay fluctuation without giving effect on ATM cell reception processing of a post-stage even when an ATM cell delayed abnormally is received. SOLUTION: An ATM cell reception section 101 receives an ATM cell sent for a prescribed period, and a read timing control section 107 obtains a timing to read a cell received and stored in an FIFO memory section 103 after the time measured by an ATM cell reception timing measurement section 105. A receiving window to discriminate whether or not a cell is received to store in the memory section 103 after this timing is set, and the memory section 103 stores the cell received at this receiving window. Furthermore, the cell not received at the receiving window is aborted and an ATM cell read section 104 reads the stored cells in response to a read timing.
