The coupling for inner (1) and outer (2) axially sliding shafts consists of a series of balls (3), each set in concave channels (16, 17) in the outer and inner shafts. Each ball has one or more springs (22, 23, 25) between it and the concave channel in one of the shafts. The balls, which can be in supporting cages, are set in a number of axial rows, with the channels containing the springs shaped to form a base (21) and two flat sloping sides (19, 23) to act as thrust surfaces for the springs. |
