PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for setting photographing time of camera is provided to achieve improved use convenience by setting photographing mode and time through the use of an input unit, while reducing cost. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises an input unit for receiving input from a user; a screen display unit for displaying data; and a control unit for determining a photographing mode by the user input, displaying the determined photographing mode through the screen display unit, setting a photographing time by the user input when the determined photographing mode requires setting of a photographing time, and displaying the set photographing time through the screen display unit. A method comprise a first step of selecting a photographing mode; a second step of displaying the selected photographing mode; a third step of displaying an initial photographing time corresponding to the selected photographing mode; a fourth step of modifying the photographing time; a fifth step of displaying the modified photographing time; a sixth step of selecting a photographing time; and a seventh step of displaying the selected photographing time.
