PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of a catalyst in a method of producing an exhaust gas purifying catalyst in which electric charge is applied so that a carrier is made a cathode and a conducting material is made an anode to deposit noble metal in a wash coat of a carrier by constituting the anode corresponding to the distribution of the deposited quantity of the catalyst to be formed on the carrier. SOLUTION: At the time of producing an exhaust gas purifying catalyst, a carrier 1 coated with a wash coat and an anode 2 of conducting material are immersed in a noble metal solution 3, and connection to a power source 4 is made so that the carrier 1 is made on the cathode side. Next, by applying voltage between both electrodes, noble metal ions of positive charge being present in the noble metal solution 3 are attracted to near the carrier 1 on the cathode side with efficiency to deposit the noble metal on the carrier 1. At this time, corresponding to the distribution of the deposited quantity of the catalyst to be formed on the carrier 1, the anode is constituted. The constitution of the anode corresponding to the distribution of the deposited quantity of the catalyst to be deposited on the carrier 1 includes the matching to the shape of the anode by matching to the shape of the carrier 1. |
