<p>An electric field control electrode covering the edge of a source wiring is provided on an opposed substrate, and a vertical electric field is produced in the spacing portion between the source wiring and a common electrode. As a result, liquid crystal molecules are erected, and the spacing portion is brought to a black state, thereby preventing light leakage and improving the contrast. Since an electric field is utilized, the allowance margin of misregistration is wide, and it is unnecessary to extend the light-shielding region to the pixel region, thereby improving the aperture ratio.</p> |
