摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize fast encoding of image data with high accuracy in an image compressing device. SOLUTION: This image compressing device is provided with an encoder (a DCT circuit 121, a quantization circuit 122 and a Huffman coding circuit 123) compressing and encoding inputted image data, an encoding quantity counter 124 counting the code quantity of compressed image data generated by the encoder, and a control core circuit 2 deciding an optimum compression parameter to make the code quantity of the compressed image data not greater than a prescribed value by repeating compression processing by the encoder while changing the compression parameters of the encoder until code quantity counted by the code quantity counter becomes not greater than the prescribed value, divides an image to be compressed on one screen into a plurality of blocks, equally extracts a block among the plurality of blocks in a prescribed interval to generate sample image data and performs processing for deciding a compression parameter on the basis of the sample image data.</p>
