PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a surface porous to increase a surface area and to enhance the adhesion amt. and fixing ratio of microorganisms by forming a carbide biological filter bed used as a propagation place of microorganisms in the cleaning tank of a biological cleaning treatment apparatus by molding and drying org. waste and carbonizing and baking the molded waste. SOLUTION: Org. waste such as garbage generated in a cuisine or food residue generated in a food processing factory is molded and dried and subsequently carbonized and baked to form a carbide biological filter bed 1 having a large number or gaps 3 therein and comprising carbide 2 of org. waste. By this constitution, the lowering of cleaning efficiency is prevented and the life of the filter bed 1 is extended. When the water content of the org. waste exceeds 80%, the org. waste is dehydrated to be reduced to 50-80% in water content and the dehydrated matter or the org. waste with a water content of 80% or less is molded into an arbitrary shape. The molded article is dried and the dried matter with a water content of 20-60% is carbonized and backed at 200-850 deg.C to produce the carbide biological filter bed 1.
