<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card reader capable of equally pressing the cards of various thickness over a wide contact area by providing plural support arms respectively having a fixed end attached to a terminal wall and a free end to which a pressing plate is pivotally attached. SOLUTION: Two support arms 5 are protruded from a terminal wall 3 in cantilever style and extended along an outer wall adjacent to a card support plane 2. A pressing plate 6 is arranged inside a free space between the support arms 5 and the pressing plate 6 is pivotally attached to a free end 5a of the support arm 5. The free end 5a of the support arm 5 can be bent up or down vertically, for example. On the other hand, the pressing plate 6 is further pivoted close to the pivot of the free end 5a of the support arm 5 or with that pivot as a center by a torsion bar 7. Thus, the pressing plate 6 and the card can be contacted over the wide contact area regardless of the thickness of the inserted card.</p> |
