<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a winding time of a magnetic tape by giving the prescribed speed variation to a magnetic tape with a high speed winding mode even when dispersion exists in thickness of a magnetic tape, in a cassette tape recorder recording a signal in a magnetic tape wound on a pair of reels of a tape cassette, or reproducing a signal from a magnetic tape. SOLUTION: A cassette tape recorder is provided with a tape transporting mechanism, and a control circuit controlling operation of the tape transporting mechanism, the control circuit detects tape residual quantity to a winding terminal end of a magnetic tape, controls running speed of a magnetic tape based on a tape position corresponding to detected tape residual quantity, and acceleration running, constant speed running, and reduction running is successively performed. Then, the control circuit estimates thickness of a magnetic tape, varies a tape position at which reduced speed running of a magnetic-tape is to be started in accordance with estimated thickness of a magnetic tape.</p> |
