<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ZnO-Pr6O11 voltage nonlinear resistor for low-voltage circuit having a high surge resistance and a low V1 mA/t by growing gigantic grains up to 200μm in diameter. SOLUTION: A voltage nonlinear resistor is manufactured in such a way that powder which is prepared by mixing a very small amount of an auxiliary ingredient containing at least a rare-earth element, such as Pr6O11, La2O3, etc., in a main ingredient composed of zinc oxide, and shows a voltage nonlinear resistance after molding and baking with core particles having crystal grain diameters which are sufficiently larger than those of the zinc oxide powder and composed of single zinc oxide crystals and the mixture is molded and baked. The baking is performed in an oxidizing atmosphere containing oxygen at a partial pressure of >=40%.</p> |
