Method and apparatus for measuring physical parameters from the phase and amplitude histories of an acoustic signal

Method and apparatus for extracting at least one physical parameter from an acoustic signal. The signal received by a first transducer, which is located below a water surface, is converted into an electric signal. The electric signal is then digitised and transformed to a complex digital signal. From the phase history and the amplitude history of the complex digital signal the physical parameter or parameters are determined.
