A high-activity hydrotreating catalyst containing a uniformly dispersed acti ve component at a high concentration, and particularly useful for deep desulfurization of a hydrocarbon oil for its high hydrodesulfurization activity. The present invention also provides a hydrotreating process using the same catalyst.
