PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable displacement type compressor that can suppress a hunting phenomenon in a check valve at a low flow rate and can stabilize an operation of a valve element of the check valve.SOLUTION: A variable displacement type compressor includes: a housing; a discharge chamber 37 formed in the housing; a discharge refrigerant flow passage formed from the discharge chamber 37 to an external refrigerant circuit; and a check valve 54 disposed in the discharge refrigerant passage. The check valve 54 includes: a valve seat 65 having a valve hole 64 through which a refrigerant passes; a valve element 72 coming into contact with/separating from the valve seat 65; an energizing member for energizing the valve element 72 toward the valve seat 65; a valve housing 57 inside which a valve chamber communicating with the valve hole 64 is formed and in which the valve element 72 and the energizing member are accommodated; and a communication window 70 formed in the valve housing 57 and constituting part of the discharge refrigerant flow passage.
