The seat unit (20) is fitted to a vehicle floor (22) with stop device (26). The unit consists of a seat pad (30) fastened to the floor, and a back rest (50) with a load-carrying rear surface and a locking member near its lower end. The backrest is moveable between an upright position, and a horizontal position, in which the load-carrying surface is also horizontal. The locking member is part of a locking unit (70). A connection device (80) regulates the movement of the backrest relative to the seat pad between vertical and horizontal positions. A roller unit rolls on the backrest, when this moves between positions.
