<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power saving device for a LAN board capable of reducing power consumption of the LAN board. SOLUTION: A power saving control part 2 first outputs power saving transition information 5 when a computer 1 transits to a power saving mode. An I/O control part 3 writes a set value of the lowest speed to be communicated with external equipment in a speed setting internal register 11 through a network control part 10 upon receiving the power saving transition information 5. On the other hand, a communication control part 12 stores speed at which the external equipment can communicate in the speed setting internal register 11 based on a link pulse received from the external equipment. Next, the communication control part 12 sets the lowest speed at which both the network control part 10 and the external equipment can communicate based on the speed at which the network control part 10 can communicate and the one at which the external equipment which is stored in the speed setting internal register 11 can communicate.</p> |
