PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a power transmission device for a four-wheel drive vehicle and reduce its cost by reducing the number of hydraulic pumps and torque transmission capacity of a two-way clutch mechanism. SOLUTION: A multiple disk clutch 11 distributing a part of torque of a front wheel which is a main drive wheel to a rear wheel which is an auxiliary drive wheel is provided between a drive shaft 5 continuous with the front wheel and a driven shaft 6 continuous with the rear wheel. A two-way clutch mechanism 32 connecting the drive shaft 5 with a single hydraulic pump 26 through a clutch outer 17 and a sleeve 31 tightens when the number of revolutions of the drive shaft 5 exceeds the number of revolutions of the driven shaft 6 at a predetermined ratio irrespective of forward and reverse movement of a vehicle, namely, the direction of rotation of the drive shaft 5 and drives the hydraulic pump 26 to put the vehicle into a four-wheel drive condition. Since only minute torque driving the hydraulic pump 26 acts on the two-way clutch mechanism 32, it is possible to reduce torque transmission capacity of the two- way clutch mechanism 32 and cost and miniaturize this power transmission device. |
