PORTABLE PATIENT MONITOR HAVING ANTENNA BUILT INTO HANDLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable appliance constituted by building an antenna (14) into a handle (4) of a portable patient monitor or another portable medical diagnostic appliance in such a manner that radio communication with a central station may be performed. SOLUTION: The handle is formed of a tough plastic material, such as polycarbonate which protects the antenna from damage. The plastic material used for the handle does not exert a minus influence on the RF transfer with the antenna. The antenna is supported by a pair of slots (90 and 92) formed in individual ribs (78 and 80) of a molded piece (62).
