PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating waste plastics, by which a desired oil or gas can easily be recovered from the waste plastics in remarkably improved heat profitability, and to provide a device therefor. SOLUTION: A preheater 7 for preliminarily heating air E1 for combustion with the residual heat of a combustion gas B1 produced by a combustion reaction on a burner 3 is disposed. Thereby, the residual heat of the combustion gas B1 is recovered without relating to the heating of the slurry A1 of waste plastics, and then recycled as heat energy for heating the slurry A1. Therefore, the residual heat of the combustion gas B1 can sufficiently be recovered to remarkably enhance the total heat efficiency without affecting the treating conditions of plastic cracking reactions.
