LIGHT GUIDE BODY AND BACK LIGHT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means to realize the functions of a polarizing separation plate and a light guide body in one single body of a light guide body to efficiently use the illumination rays entering the light guide body in a back light and to improve the display luminance of a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: This plate type light guide body consists of a transparent solid material which constitutes the back light of a liquid crystal display device. A fine rugged pattern having a polarization separation function is formed on the face of the body where light exits, and a means to diffuse and reflect the light from a light source is formed on the counter face to the exit face.
