<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain decoding in the unit of pixels and to realize high compression rate. SOLUTION: The method for compressing image data includes a step S2, where received image data are divided into 1st pixel sets, a step S3 where 2nd pixel sets each consisting of a representative pixel are generated, a step S4 where each pixel and the representative pixel of the received image data are decomposed into a luminance component and a color difference component, a step S5 where 3rd pixel sets are generated, which consist of differences between the luminance component of the representative pixel and that of each pixel in the 1st pixel sets, a step S6 dare the pixels with the same difference are compressed, a step S7 where the received image data are divided into blocks including an integer multiple being the unity or over of the 3rd pixel sets, a step S8 where the differences in the block less than a prescribed value are compressed and quantized, and a step S9 where the luminance component and the color difference component of the representative pixel, the cross reference between the difference of the quantized 3rd pixel sets and their positions and an eigen value of the 3rd pixel sets consisting of the position of the updated 3rd pixel sets and their cross reference are stored.</p> |
