PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an emulsion composition excellent in mechanical stability, and capable of preparing a film exhibiting excellent waterproof by drying the emulsion, and further to provide a method for producing the emulsion composition. SOLUTION: (B) A hydrazine-based compound is formulated with (A) an aqueous emulsion comprising a saponified product of a diacetoneacrylamide-fatty acid vinyl ester copolymer containing 0.1-15 mol% diacetoneacrylamide unit, a PVA capable of providing 4 wt.% aqueous solution having <=5 mPa.s viscosity at 20 deg.C as an emulsifying and dispersing agent, and a polymer of at least one kind of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer selected from an acrylic monomer, a styrenic monomer and a dienic monomer as a dispersoid to provide the objective synthetic resin emulsion composition.
