PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cluster frame synchronization scheme for a satellite digital audio radio system, adopting a transmission frame structure to efficiently transport a program channel. SOLUTION: An SDARS transmitter transmits a broadcast transmission signal which includes transmission of a time division multiplex mode and transmission of a coded orthogonal frequency multiplex mode. More specifically, the SDARS transmitter processes 100 program channels and divides them into 5 clusters. Each cluster consists of global control(GC) information, cluster synchronization(CS) information, and program clusters consisting of 20 program channels and cluster control(CC) information. The SDARS transmitter divides each cluster into 255 sets of cluster segments and interleaves the cluster segments from each cluster for the transmission. The SDARS transmitter uses one identical maximum length PN(pseudo-random number) sequence for a cluster synchronization word with respect to the 5 clusters. A receiver uniquely identifies each cluster, using the phase relative position of the result of correlation of the 5 clusters. |
