PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing transforming element with high-performance in a wide band, which can be formed from single material without laminating formation. SOLUTION: The polarizing transforming element has a polarized light separating member which divides the natural light being made incident into two linearly polarized lights intersecting perpendicularly each other, and a polarized light conversion member which makes coincident the polarized light direction of the two linearly polarized lights by converting the polarized light direction of one linearly polarized light among the two devided linearly polarized lights at 90 deg. with a 1/2 wavelength plate. In the polarizing transforming element, the 1/2 wavelength plate is formed by using a norbornene resin composition containing norbornene resin and a polymer having a netative specific double refractivity value in which the wavelength dispersion of the specific double refractivity value statisfys the following relation, |Δn (450)/Δn (550)|>=1.02, when the specific double refractivity value (Δn) at the time of the wavelength in 450 nm and the wavelength in 550 nm is defined as the >=n (450) and the Δn (550), respectively. |
