摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce work load of a host in a data storage device library and to maintain interchangeability of software between the host and a library controller in a wide range. SOLUTION: The data storage device library 100 imaginarily transports a cartridge from a storage slot 114 to an I/O slot 112 by using a functional address and thereby the I/O slot 112 is efficiently used while maintaining interchangeability of the software. In particular, a library host 102 at a central place controls transportaion of the cartridge according to a functional storage address and a functional I/O address.
