摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the image burning on a liquid crystal display device of an in-plane switching(IPS) mode. SOLUTION: Low-dielectric constant material layers 10 are formed in part of the space parts between driving electrode parts 8 and 9 of comb-shaped electrodes arranged on a first substrate 1. The dielectric constant of these low-dielectric constant material layers 10 is lower than the dielectric constant of the liquid crystals constituting a liquid crystal layer 3. As a result, the electric field intensity impressed on the liquid crystals at the boundary is lessened. High-dielectric constant material layers are otherwise formed on the surface of the substrate 1 and the electric field direction at the boundary is offset from the horizontal direction. A perpendicular surface is otherwise formed on the substrate of the display section or the horizontal parts in the display section are decreased, by which effective anchoring intensity is increased. As a result, the officiating of the liquid crystal molecules at the boundary from the direction of initial alignment at the time of driving voltage impression is substantially prevented and the image burning is prevented.</p>
