PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machining method and a device with a wire electrode capable of forming an even surface modified layer having the predetermined characteristic in a work at a practical discharge surface treatment speed. SOLUTION: This machining method is provided with a first process for generating a discharge between a discharge surface treatment electrode 6 and a wire electrode 2a and for adhering the discharge surface treatment material to a surface of the wire electrode 2a with the discharge energy, and a second process for generating a discharge between the coated with electrode 2, to which the discharge surface treatment material is adhered, and a work 1 so as to form a surface modified layer in the surface of the work 1 with the discharge energy. Since a normal wire electrode 2a can be used, the costs can be lowered. Since the discharge surface treatment can be performed to the work 1 immediately after forming the coated wire 2, the surface modified layer can be efficiently formed in the work 1. |
