The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of compounds of Formula (I): wherein R1 is alkyl; R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 are, independently, hydrogen, alkyl or alkenyl; X is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl or alkoxy; and the dotted bond is an optional bond. The present invention also relates to novel light screening compositions containing certain of the compounds of Formula (I) and to certain novel compounds of Formula (I), as well as other novel 2-substituted phenyl-benzotriazole compounds.
