<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost optical functional device and a light scattering device which can fast scan the emitted light and increase the scanning angle. SOLUTION: An optical waveguide 4 formed on a substrate 3 is provided with a plurality of comb-like electrodes 7, 8 which generate surface acoustic waves 7a, 8a in different directions so as to form a refractive index periodical part 10 where the refractive index is distributed with the period according to the wavelength of the surface acoustic waves 7a, 8a generated by applying a voltage on the comb-like electrodes 7, 8. By varying the period of the voltage applied to continuously change the wavelength of the surface elastic waves 7a, 8a, the direction of light emitting from the refractive index periodical part 10 is controlled to scan.</p> |
