PURPOSE: A housing type bed with improved safety is provided to protect hand or fingers from being put between top and side plates by assembling a panel on side portion of the top plate. CONSTITUTION: The housing type bed comprises a housing space(A) formed of side plates(12,13), a headboard(14) and a footboard(15) provided with top plates(19,21). The top plates function as the lid of the housing space(A) below and to form a bed surface and freely and rotatably supported on one side of either head side end or foot side end while the other side can be elevated and lowered. On at least one side part of the top plates(19,21), a cover(plate body)(50) extended downward from the back surface of the top plate is provided.
