NOVEL FEATHER FINE POWDER AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel technique for multilaterally effective utilization of the feather resource at a high level as a new material of the zero environmental load in no need of use of a large amount of solvents as in the case of conventional feather processing. SOLUTION: This novel feather fine powder retains theβ-structure and is obtained by pulverizing the feather without the molecular weight-lowering treatment with weak alkali, drying the resultant liquid product and grading the particle sizes by pulverizing the product, when necessary. In the process for producing the objective feather fine powder, the feather is pulverized without lowering the molecular weight of the feather by weak alkali treatment, the resultant liquid product is dried and the particle size are graded by crushing the dried product, when necessary.
