GLASS LENS FOR SPECTACLES AND SPECTACLES USING THE SAME AS WELL AS METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING GLASS LENS FOR SPECTACLES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide glass lenses for spectacles having excellent strength, spectacles using the same and a method for manufacturing the glass lenses for the spectacles. SOLUTION: A composition for metal oxide thin films essentially consisting of zirconium oxide is applied to base material lens surfaces and is crystallized, by which the glass lenses for the spectacles having the metal oxide thin films may be easily provided. This composition has a zirconium component and metallic components exclusive of the zirconium component. This zirconium component is a zirconium complex formed of aminopolycarboxylic acid and the zirconium compound or is a salt of a zirconium salt and amine. The metallic component exclusive of the zirconium is a compound containing metals exclusive of the zirconium. Of the total metallic components of this composition, the zirconium component is included at a ratio of 70 to 98 mol% in terms of zirconium oxide and the metallic components exclusive of the zirconium are included at a ratio of 2 to 30 mol% in terms of the oxide of the metals is included in the composition. The glass lenses for the spectacles are provided with the excellent mechanical strength by using such composition.
