PURPOSE: A switching type recording apparatus and method is provided to efficiently execute a selective recording of an exchange for a large number of station loops. CONSTITUTION: A call contents recording system consists of an exchange control host(110), an exchange(180), and a VLog(Voice Logging) system(120). The exchange control host(110), the exchange(180), and the VLog system(120) can execute the transmission of data and signals through a TCP/IP communication network(100). The VLog system(120), connected with the exchange(180) through an E1 network(190) and recording voice call contents, comprises a TCP/IP network interface card(130), an E1 network interface card(170), and a voice logging process(140). The TCP/IP network interface card(130) is provided to access the TCP/IP communication network(100). The E1 network interface card(170) is provided to access the E1 network(190). The voice logging process(140) executes and controls the recording, regeneration and deletion of voice call contents. Also the VLog system(120) includes a hard disk(150) to store voice messages and a data backup unit(160) to back up voice call contents data files.
