A ski stick 10 comprises a shaft 12, a grip 11 fastened at one end of the shaft, and a snow ring 14 fastened at the other end of said shaft with an insertion tip 15. The shaft is formed from a shell 19 with a wooden film 20 covering at least a segment of the shell. There may also be at least one fibre-woven layer covering another segment of the shell (Figures 5-7). The wooden film preferably has a thickness ranging between 0.05mm and 0.3mm. The wooden film and fibre-woven layer are designed to be eye-catching, reduce the rate of shock transmission in the ski pole, and prevent the generation and transmission of static in the shaft. The wooden film may have a fibre-reinforced plastic or glass fibre layer attached to its inner or outer surface. The shell may contain a core of a plastic foam material (Figure 10, 80), and the said other end of the shaft is preferably covered with a fibre-woven layer. The shaft body may have a round or oval (Figure 8) cross section as well as a reinforcing rib (Figure 9, 16b).
