摘要 A nerve regeneration tube comprising a resorbable side wall of a collagenic matter which has a smooth and compact exterior surface, which inhibits adherence of cells to it and acts as a barrier to hinder passage of cell through it, and a fibrous interior wall. Preferred Features: The sidewall is formed of a mixture of type I and type III collagens. It contains most preferably 1-5 % type I and 95-99% type III. It contains a filling consisting of type I or type IV collagen or a 1:1 by weight mixture of the two of which the fibers are oriented longitudinally with respect to the tube. The filling also includes a nerve growth stimulant (laminine) or nerve growth factor or a mixture of the two. The tube wall is derived from collagen containing membrane, preferably peritoneum. The tube is constructed from a sheet of material with a smooth side and a fibrous side, which is formed into the tube with the fibrous side innermost by sutures or an adhesive.. The tube is then filled with the filling. It is disclosed that a suitable material is Bio-Gide (TM), the formation of which is described in US Patent No. 5837278
