PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator capable of managing stock by recognizing the items of foods, and transmitting the condition of the stock to an external communication terminal, such as portable telephone or a personal computer. SOLUTION: A bar code, attached to the food to be put in/to be put out, is read as item information by a bar code reader 3. The user is made input in/out information of whether that food is to be put out or to be put in or to be returned by operating a key panel 4; and on the basis of this information, the microcomputer of the refrigerator prepares a stock list. A portable telephone set 6 for communication can transmit/receive electronic mail, and electronic mail received from the external portable telephone is sent to the microcomputer of the refrigerator 1. When the electronic mail contains a specified character string, while referring to the stock list, the microcomputer generates text data, expressing the stock condition and prepares electronic mail addressed to the external portable telephone, while using these text data as the text of the mail; and the prepared electronic mail is transmitted to the portable telephone set 6 for communication. |
