PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stain preventing method for a heat exchanger capable of reducing an organic substance adhering on a surface by an inexpensive method without increasing facilities and a heat exchanger used in the method. SOLUTION: A coating film 9 comprising polyaniline is formed on a surface of a heat exchanging part 4 of the heat exchanger 1. When the heat exchanger is operated, condensate water 8 adheres on the surface of the heat exchanging part 4, the condensate water 8 is brought into contact with the polyaniline to turn oxygen dissolved in the condensate water 8 into active oxygen so that the organic substance contained in the water 8 is decomposed.
