<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open-cell cellular microorganism carrier withstanding long-term use, prevented from deformation, reducing such a phenomenon that a fixed bed filled with the carrier is compactified to increase water passing resistance and having large microorganism holding capacity. SOLUTION: In the open-cell cellular microorganism carrier, the average value of the thicknesses (wall thicknesses) of open-cell cellular films (cell films) 2 is 35-110μm when (n) inscribed circles, which come into contact with three cells (3a, 3b and 3c) approaching each other among a large number of cells 3, are selected at random to be defined as the average value of the diameters of them. The size of each of the cells (3a, 3b and 3c) of the open-cell cellular films is preferably about 2-10 mm2 (arithmetic mean value) as a cross-sectional area.</p> |
