摘要 PURPOSE: A system and a method for controlling the air gap of a magnetic sensor are provided to prevent the mal-function of an engine due to the tolerance and the change of an air gap by keeping uniform the air gap of a magnetic sensor. CONSTITUTION: A system for controlling the air gap of a magnetic sensor includes a flywheel(202) and a magnetic crank position sensor(210). The magnetic sensor is fitted in an installation hole of a case(204), and a spring retainer(206) is formed at a specific outer portion of the magnetic sensor. A return spring(208) for applying a restorative force to the magnetic sensor is interposed between the spring retainer and the case. A forward/backward operation unit for forward and backward operating the magnetic sensor by a pneumatic pressure is connected to the rear end of the magnetic sensor. An ECU(Electronic Control Unit)(280) controls the forward/backward movement of the magnetic sensor by the pulse signal inputted from the magnetic sensor. If the amplitude of the pulse is abnormal and troubles occur repeatedly over a predetermined grade, the increase of an air gap is decided. Then, the magnetic sensor is operated forward. If the air gap decreases, the magnetic sensor is operated backward.
